DABIRSIM – the Champion.

Christophe Ferland made a remarkable entry in the circle of Gr.1 winner trainers thanks to the champion Dabirsim. This foal which was purchased only at the price of 30.000€ at the Arqana yearling sales marked the year 2011. Indeed, he remained undefeated in 5 races and won the the European two-year-old title.

Dabirsim won his debut easily – by 10 lengths – and franked this with a second victory in La Teste, again at 1200 meters. Sent to Deauville for the Prix Cabourg Gr.3, where he showed an usual turn of foot to defeat his competitors easily. Three weeks later, he floored the opposition in the first European Gr.1 for the younger generation – the prix Morny, which is one of the most coveted races of the program. His devastating acceleration left the respected Family One three lengths behind.
On Arc de Triomphe Day, Dabirsim made it perfect at the mythical Longchamp racecourse by realizing the difficult double Prix Morny – Prix Jean- Luc Lagardère. Last of all three hundred meters from the winning post, he sneaked up to the rail and achieved a maximum speed that would be remembered. Dabirsim won by three – quarters of a length from Sofast, in the Wertheimers’ brothers’ colors.

INDONESIENNE.

The Wertheimers’ brothers did not hold it against Christophe Ferland that Dabirsim inflicted a defeat on Sofast in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère. Indeed, these accomplished sportsmen drew a very different conclusion from this and dispatched four horses to Christophe Ferland’ stable a few weeks later! A yearling called Indigo was among them and offered a first black type win to the Wertheimer-Ferland duo two years later in The Prix La Sorellina, Listed.

In October that same year, this was already the apotheosis thanks to the two-year-old Indonésienne, who defeated a highfly regarded group of fillies in the Prix Marcel Boussac Gr.1 at Longchamp on Arc de Triomphe day.

SPOIL THE FUN – The metronome

Spoil The Fun was purchased for 55.000€ at the two-year-old sale by the Prime Equestrian stable, based in Dubai. Spoil The Fun is the dream horse for all horse racing owners. Indeed, when he was five years old, he had a total of 25 races for 7 wins – which one of them was a Listed and another a GR.3 – and 13 places. In other words, he was in the money four times out of five. From the beginning, this son of Rock of Gibraltar proved large capacities, and won his first two races at two years old at the Bordeaux-Le-Bouscat racecourse. Spoil The Fun closed that season by placing third in the Critérium du Languedoc, Listed.

The following year, after an expedition to Dubai where he came fifth in a Listed race, he took several places at this level and signed two wins in D races. He reached a new record when he was four years old with a victorious comeback followed by a fantastic win in the Prix Montretout (Listed) at Longchamp – beating the future winner of Gr.2 Pollyanna – a third place after the winner in the Prix Quincey Gr.3 who won by a neck … What more can one ask for ? A group victory maybe ? This was achieved in 2014 , just after failing several times – second place in the Prix Bertrand du Breuil Gr.3 and then the Prix Quincey Gr.3. Indeed, Spoil The Fun outran his competitors by three lengths in the Prix Premio del Piazzale Gr.3 in Milan with his loyal rider Julien Augé.

CHALNETTA – Mother courage.

Just like Spoil the Fun, Chalnetta is a model of consistency. Indeed, at the end of 2004, she had 20 races for 4 wins and 12 places. Benoit Chalmel’s representative was found at the August yearling sales by Michel Roussel for 30.000€. It was thanks to his training that Chalnetta realized her first three races at two years old and succeeded in being placed on two occasions. When Michel Roussel decided to put an end to his training career, the filly joined Christophe Ferland’s yard and started to win at once. The following year, she climbed the career ladder quickly. Indeed, Chalnetta made a victorious comeback in a « F race », and successfully advanced to a Listed level in three months in the Derby du Midi, in which she got ahead of male horses. Chalnetta went from one dazzling performance to another until the end of the season and came in second three times in Group 2 races ! The first time was in the Prix Malleret in Saint-Cloud, the second one in the Prix Pomone in Deauville, and the last one was in the Prix Royallieu on Arc de Triomphe Day at Longchamp, where she crossed the finishing line first but was moved down for being in the way of the Aga Khan Ebiyza’s representative.

At four years of age, the beautiful grey mare regained her spirit thanks to a win in a « D race » and took the second place in the Prix Pomone Gr.2 with a fantastic finish.
